Day 4 - 18 miles - 4/18/10
Up and on the trail early this time by 6:30 the morning miles are some of the best. It's much cooler so we can put on miles without even loosing water or having to drink as much. 10 miles by noon and we climbed three mountains, met piper and trailhacker, and they told us if we made it to highway 35 look for a phone number there. PIPERS MOM. She said she won't tell you this but she will pick you up and feed you. Awesome highlight of the morning was the pedastal

on top of the lagunas that sighted out all kinds of places in the distance.Pretty cool and just the best views! Made it to Pioneer Mail Trailhead
where we napped a few hours in the shade of some nice oaks. We filtered the nastiest water yet
and having an early dinner we put on some more miles. From there we followed old highway S1 then before reaching the summit which Bigfoot says "looks out of this world, like your waiting for captian kirk to land the enterprize there." We had hiked about 18 miles and the clouds rolled in. We found the perfect camp(seriously all the other hikers had a horrible night!) nestled against the biggest manzanita, just before the bone chilling 40-45mph winds set in. The tarp was up just in time for us to jump into our sleeping bags before the rain began. Good miles but Crazy Day!
