Day 5- 8 pct miles - 4/19/10
Big moral killer trying to get to a state park to shoer and wash our clothes and charge electronics. We took atleast a five and a half mile detour down hill on the wrong road. Then Sarah's hip started really bothering her and she couldn't go much futher. I had to get her off the trail, But how? After returning to or mistake we saw our buddies Mama Melissa, Sherwin, Bigfoot and Stanimal, oh and that couples name i just cant remember their names. I talked with them and explained out situation. Plan A- Walk straight up back where we came from to Sunrise Highway where we could hopefully hitch into town. No Thanks. Plan B- Continue five miles to Rodriguez Spur Truck Trail where a hiker haven was said to be. What a neat place, free showers and you can wash and air dry all of your clothes!(Definatly a Blessing)Five dollar all you can eat stew, and they had soda too! They also sold all kinds of gear for hikers. One of the men running it offered to take us at the end of his day...THANK YOU SO MUCH...Then we sat and watched our buddies enjoy stew and beer...Tough. Got a ride into Julian and now are sitting in the Julian Lodge parking lot wating for our mom and sister to pick us up. I feel bad I took Sarah on the trail to have a fun, exciting, enjoyable adventure. But it has turned into a mental an physical battle, and there is no way she can enjoy it.On top of that she is hurting real bad. Man I'm gonna miss her on the trail.(Sarah-i did enjoy it! It was such an amazing experience! I couldn't have done it with anyone else! Really once in a life time kinda week!)
