Day 11-(12) miles. Yesterdays big miles have given me sore feet and a sore back but other than that I actually feel great. Woke up at 6:00 am to the sound of natures alarm clock Mourning doves, like clockwork every morning 6 sharp. Said goodbye to Patchwork hope I'll run into him again down the trail. Packed up and on the trail at 6:30, then up and down and up and down through tule and nance canyons as the trail alternated from sandy wash to rocky cliffs. I had one spot on the trail today that must of had a recent rockslide as I had to put my poles away and climb the rocks to get back onto the trail normally wouldn't be a problem at all but with a heavy pack you got to take your time. Hiking further on the nice cool morning gave way to not cool early afternoon. I was sweating up a storm a drinking a lot of water. Noticing I was getting low on water I began to push in earnest in hopes of finding some. And just when I thought I'd never find any I noticed a small blue sign that read "water cache approximately 1 mile Hooray!!, And what a pleasent suprise it was. The hikers oasis cache by far the biggest and best I've come across, complete with pry 80 gallon jugs of fresh water, a register, message board, as well as a sign that read "Welcome PCT hikers class of 2010. How great is it that folks go out of there way to help someone that might never even be able to thank them in person. Took 2 liters signed the register and decided instead of the 11 miles to the highway I'd take Mason valley truck trail and other high ranch estates roads to where found Kamp Anza rv park 6 hot road miles later. What a deal though Donna the real nice old lady in the office gave me a place to camp and access to the restroom complete with shower and electric plugins all for only 5 bucks. And if I thought it couldn't get better the store here sells RC cola. Now I have some time to write in my journal as I rest under an alder tree next to a real 1800s pioneer wagon pretty cool for someone who loves history. Something I'd like to mention is that at every place I stopped to take a breather in the last 3 days There has been a strange occurrence, within just a few seconds of stopping there would be a hummingbird friend of mine to welcome me. Oddly enough I find this very comforting. Everyone at the rv park has been awesome met Barry an ex-marine and chatted with him for quite a while seemed to be fairly interested in my journey. First place I've found in So Cal where the people have been not afraid or down right rude to me. Most of the resort towns look down on me like I'm a bum or a criminal, I have done nothing but show friendliness to everyone I've come across on the trail so it was real nice to see it be returned tenfold. Wish So Cal would take a cue from this small mountain community. But I'm not holding my breath. This is so cool just as I'm laying out my bedroll for the night this guy walks up to me and asks " hey you like steak" do I. What a way to finish off the day with a steak thanks dude.
Side note - Learned why everyone waves around here, I was told by one of the locals that round here you always have to wave cause you never know it might be your daddy. Also special thanks to kurtis for keeping me updated on the 9ers draft and to cuz Mike for the giants scores it's been a real bonus, and big big thanks to my Aunt Midge for going out of her way to get me off the trail and let me stay here I can't thank you enough.
Side note #2 I'm glad noone asked why I was having to use the restrrom so often at Kamp Anza because the charge I would get from the plug would only give me 1 bar even after 20 plus minutes so I've gonein there no less than 20 times in the short while I was here.
